Pentathlon

Last week lots of our children enjoyed taking part in a virtual Pentathlon Competition. They competed against each other in the Speed Bounce, Vertical Jump, Shuttle Run, Target throw and Standing long Jump. The scores were then sent to the Darlington Sports Partnership who compared our results with those from school’s across the town.
Our year 1/2 team came 2nd and our Y3/4 team also came second out of all the schools that took part.
Anna from Year 3 came 3rd out of all the year 3/4 girls across the town.
Anna from Year 2 came 3rd out of all the year 1/2 girls across the town.
Filip from Year 2 came 3rd out of all the Year 1/2 boys across the town.
They all had a great time and performed fantastically. Well done to all who took part

Darlington Cross Country

On Thursday 3rd of October 26 of our children took part in the Darlington Cross Country Competition. All of the children put in 100% effort and really supported each other. 7 of our runners came in the top ten and therefore went on to represent Darlington in the Tees Valley Cross Country. our Year 5 girls’ team came 3rd out of 24 schools and our Y3/4 boys’ team came 2nd. A fantastic achievement!

Tess Valley Cross Country

Following on form their huge success in the Town Cross Country, 7 of our children represented Darlington in the Tees Valley Cross Country. Maggie and Daniel both came in the top 10 in their races out of around 80 runners. Darlington came 2nd overall out of 7 districts. The year 5 girls’ team and the year 6 boys team, which we had runners in, came in first place and the Year 3/4 girls’ and boys’ teams and the year 5 boys’ team came in fourth place. Well done to all involved. It was a fantastic event!

Key Steps Gymnastics

Well done to our gymnastics teams. 5 children from KS1, 5 from Years 3 and 4 and 5 from years 5 and 6 were chosen to represent the school in a Gymnastics Competition last Tuesday along with 2 individual performers from year 4. All the children performed to an excellent standard.
The key stage 2 children made it through to the finals of the competition which took place on Friday. In the finals, our Year 5 and 6 team came 3rd and in the individual competition Millie came 2nd and Maggie came 3rd. Well done to everyone who took part.

Community Games

Year 4 had a fantastic day at the Community Games Yesterday. they got to try out lots of new activities such as speed cones, lazer run, kettle bells, judo and fitness training. One of our teams received a special award for Respect during their Fitness Training. Well done for doing our school proud with your attitude.


Year 3/4 Football Shield

Well done to our year 3s and 4s who put in a fantastic effort on a very hot day when competing in the year 3/4 Football Shield at Eastbourne Sports Complex. 3 teams from St Augustine’s took part and one of our teams came 3rd out of 16 teams in total.

Year 4 Quadkids

Well done to our fantastically athletic year 4s. They all went to Eastbourne Sports Complex on Thursday to take part in the Quadkids Athletics Competition. This involved the standing long jump, 400m run, 50m sprint and howler throw. All of the children gave it their all and did a fantastic job.
One of our teams made it through to the Quadkids finals and competed again today. They came 3rd out of 14 teams.
Out of all the boys competing today George and Oliver came in joint 1st place for their overall points total.
Well done Year 4. You were amazing!
